So this month has been a busy one at work so some birding done. Ive not hit over 100 species for the patch at Hollesley now.
Caspians Gulls upto 11 were the species of the day, 8 Spoonbills too, later than last year but its nice there here now. Single numbers of Yellow legged gulls with a few Darker and larger Northern Herring Gulls as in the picture below.
Spoonbills in the evening light.
Whitefronted Geese are still here but dwindling in numbers.
A Short Eared Owl keeps putting in an appearance from the Screen, as does a Great White Egret and even better the Glossy Ibis.
Coot numbers are again increasing after being absent for a few months, upt to 40 birds but ive seen 25. 2 Goosanders are still on site as are 15 Pochard and 9 Tufted Ducks. The water levels being high encouraging the Pochard and tufties to stay short term. A Merlin Female Juvenile was a nice find.
Lastly today i spent a short time with a couple of Dartford Warblers on Upper Hollesley Common, the light wasn't brilliant but the birds showed nicely.
