27th to 28th Feb

Had a walk to Boyton and back from home. 

Spoonbill had returned to the back of Havergate island, Flock of 75 Avocet along with a few commoner waders.

Little Owl, Firecrest and White-fronted geese still on patch. 

In the Garden Redpoll numbers have increased to 7. Green Sandpiper still on flood by gate.

Up on Hollesley Upper Common, Woodlark singing all over  but disappointed to only find 1 Dartford warbler. Stonechats had survived luckily. Several small flocks of Crossbill over with one flock sounded like trumpets, possibly Parrots. 

 

 

Time to update the blog 14th -24th Feb

 Not had much time to go birding due to the work load, but i have got out some weekends, although the weather hasnt been great. 

14th-24th February

Geese as usual have been top of the agenda with 7 Tundra Beans, 1 Pinkfoot, Barnacles, Brents and White-fronts still being about.  Top picture showing a Barnacle X Canada Goose. 

Gulls were a 1st Winter Northern Herring Gull (L. argentatus) (in the first set of pic) a few Adult Yellow legged gulls (in second set) and Caspian gulls too still

Waders were now moving with 3 Ruff and a cracking Spotted Redshank.

Other bits were Barn Owl, Tawny Owl and Little Owl. Woodcock over the Garden. 

Leucistic teal.

Tragedy after the Beast from the East though were 18 Woodcock, 3 Guillimot, A Razorbill, Gannet, Blackbird, and a few gulls all dead and washed up Hollesley to Simpson salting whis is only a matter of a couple of hundred meters.

24th Feb

Their a small pool of flood water just outside my back gate into a field. A Green Sandpiper has taken to feeding from it. Not a garden tick but still great to see.  A Barn Owl feeding was also a nice surprise. It certainly started to feel like spring here today, the Yellow Hammer and Goldcrest in full song. 

Garden and patching.

 The cold weather has brought in no fewer than 4 Blackcaps into the garden, along with Redwings, Fieldfares and Stock doves. Woodcock flew over. Selection of garden pictures. A Common Redpoll was a very nice surprise. All digiscoped through conservatory windows. 

Hollelsey Geese have returned with 6 Bean Geese (First pic) 40+ White-fronted Geese, 20 Barnacle geese and over 100 Snipe.

Gulls 2 More Yellow Legged Gulls, Adult and near Adult. Adult Caspian gull too. 

Pretty much a picture blog this time. 

Few other bits. Working on Ipswich 2 Ring necked parakeets frequenting one of my properties.

Went for a walk in the snow up the road to Lower Hollesley Common. Had a large redpoll type, much bigger with the 6 lesser redpoll. my thoughts were a possible GREENLAND REDPOLL
