4th and 5th November on patch

4th November East Lane Bawdsey

The stormy weather yesterday didn't stop me getting out but i did just do a sea-watch with a small walk.

A few good birds over the sea

2 Leach's Petrel

16 Little Gulls

2 Kittiwakes

3 Gannet

2 Sanderling

1 Shelduck

25 Brent Geese

9 Common Scoter

On the pools a female Goldeneye and on the flooded fields another 5 Little Gull, 2 1st Winter Caspian gulls and 3 Adult Yellow Legged gulls.

5th November

Back to Hollesely the track past the prison was quiet, probably due to the bike race going past disturbing everything. a Red Kite with Marsh harrier and Buzzard was a start. Onto the other side of Boyton Hall farm the fields were again flooded.

Highlight

10 Ruff

400 Golden Plover

45 Dunlin

55 Brent Geese

90 Black tailed Godwits

3 Glossy ibis were then reported form Hollesley in flight....Damn.... i was heading that way, however i thin picked them up flying over me heading for Boyton, they didn't land and circled higher out of sight.

The Red Kite was back and showed a bit better, i then picked up a distant Ring tailed Hen Harrier but no pics it was far too brief. 3 Swallows and House Martin was a bit of a surprise.

Walking back towards Hollesley i was able to get the Cattle Egret seen from the sluice.

Carried on to the flash which was fairly quiet, the Goldeneye again and 6 Ruff dropping in was it.

I moved to my Sea watching viewpoint when a cracking Male Hen Harrier flew south.

 The Seawatch

8 Brent Geese

1 Red Breasted Merganser female

2 Skua Sp

7 Little Gull

65 Starling

1 Skylark

2 Rock pipit

1 2nd Winter Caspian Gull on Shingle

Finally looked from the screen, last years Whitefront cross had returned today and the Goldeneye was a little closer, otherwise plenty of ducks but nothing special.
