Month of April

The month of April, has been a good one so ill just write about what ive seen without the dates as its now blurred into one.

The garden topped the show with over 20 Siskin feeding on the Seed, a surprise was a nice male Brambling too. The Blackbirds are now starting to build a nest.  













A Sparrowhawk was now a daily visitor due to the high volume of birds through.


So back on patch, the Glossy Ibis is still here, there was 2 but down to 1 again now. Great White egret still and 2 Little Ringed Plover. 
Med Gulls are now passing through in small numbers as are Yellow Wagtails with  a few White wagtails and 2 nice Blue headed wagtails.










3 Water pipit were new for the year and wader numbers were slowly building with a summer plum Spotted Redshank, 7 Bar-tailed Godwit, Black tailed godwits, Greenshank, 2 Knot, Avocets, Dunlin and Ruff.








A Short eared Owl is still putting in a daily visit and after dark a Barn owl, and the Female Goosander is still around.




A few Willow Warblers came in over a few days and the Sedge warblers and Reed Warblers are now back, a few Wheatears also.




 

The Marsh Harrier Red KS tagged is still around, and upto 3 Spoonbill.  4cy Yellow legged gull has been the only notable gull. Finally an Early Hobby was a nice find whilst having some food at Hollesley Cafe. 






One days total i managed 98 species Walking around Hollesley from home... a superb April with still a little time left.
