9th to 22nd July

9th July
At Hollesley today. 6 spoonbill, 200 common scoter were on the sea, they all took flight when a boat passed by so i was able to check them for a white winger but there was nothing with them. 6 sandwich tern, 1 kittiwake a first summer bird was a year tick for the patch, 1 Greensand,1 LRP. 2 med gull. Whilst doing a sea watch a Grey heron flew out to sea.


July 12th
Found 2 Ruddy Shelduck at Hollesley tonight, male and female, seems to be a movement of birds from the continent. Patch tick. always distant though.

15 Spoonbill today.


July 13th

10 Spoonbill and the 2 Ruddy Shelduck still, a Juvenile Wheatear was fresh in.




July 15th
Hollelsey to Boyton
15 Spoonbill, 2 Ruddy Shelduck the Wheatear still, 2 Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Avocets, the first Juvenile Med Gulls too. 





 

21st July
Nipped over to Felixstowe ferry for a second for the UK Black winged/shouldered kite, it showed well so regret not taking scope and camera, just had bins as i visited just before work. Hoped it would stay about so i could go back, no such luck, still a nice UK Lifer.

22nd July
8 Spoonbill, 2 Juvenile Med Gulls, Wheatear and the now long staying Ruddy Shelducks still. 5 Common Sand, 2 Green Sand 3 Whimbrel and 5 Ringed Plover, my first Little Tern of the year too.
