September and October 2025 Hollesley

 Cameras hardly been out the  bag but the last day of August a Wheatear and a Spotted fly of note.

September 5th the greylags and Canada geese were gathering on the stubble field behind the house, nowt special though 232 Canadas was a good count.

9th September a fall of Glossy ibis had me checking the only pool of water at Hollesley, nice to see at least 3, then next day they had gone, replaced with 5 Whinchats and 10 Yellow wagtails.

11th September my first and probably last Black Terns out at sea passing Hollesley just the 2 though.

24th September it was my birthday but it was to be the worst birthday ever.... i was on my way to Lesvos but that didnt happen, today anyway. for more detail click here to see my lesvos trip report. 

25th September so no Lesvos ill nip to the patch instead, not the same but Boyton this afternoon, 2 cattle egret on river by foot ferry roosting. 2 red kite and a peregrine, Greensand and a single ruff.

26th September i headed for a seawatch of East lane, it was pretty good. East Lane totals. 1 Sooty, 1 Manx Shearwater, 2 Arctic skua, 1 Guillemot, 8 common scoter, 150 Brent geese, 100 mixed wigeon and teal. 1 Red throated diver. 6 Gannet, Rock pipit. Wheatear. 


Then for the afternoon i headed back to Boyton. Cattle Egret, Bittern 12 Ruff several Snipe and a Greensand.






Made it to Lesvos on the Sunday. here  

October 12th 

Over garden Hollesley this am. 1 Crossbill, grey wagtail, 2 stock dove. Many noisy goldcrest. 4 redwing. Circular around shingle street was poor for birds.


October 17th 

A patch tick after work with a Pallas's Warbler at Shingle Street. 

October 18th and 19th

Yellow Browed Warbler in the Dip Hollesley and a couple of circulars around Shingle St, 3 Firecrest, Short eared owl, Woodlark, Dartford Warbler and a few Chiffchaffs still. A 2nd Winter Caspian Gull and Kingfisher on river. Best of the rest was flushing a Juvenile Ring Ouzel. Redwings now in and a fieldfare with Siskin over garden.
