Hollesley to Boyton 7th October

Circular done today Hollesley to Boyton and back, at Hollesley it was fairly quiet, 2 R, 1 Bar tailed Godwit, a Ringed plover and 2 Greensand. 3 Pintail, a Redpoll and Siskin over. More Stonechat than normal had me checking everyone of them.

Half way to Boyton and i could see a small group of waders in the field, 8 Ruff, i could also hear Golden plover, 85 dropped into the fields i checked each one carefully and came up with 2 potential American Golden plover, a Juv and a maulting adult. The adult looked really good as it was small, long winged and grey, i watched it for some time but then it revealed a gleaming white underwing..... goddamit.

I never did see the under-wing on the juvenile but structurally it wasn't right anyway.

Moved onto the new scrape at Boyton where it was nice to pick up a Great White egret and then 4 Cattle egret. A few other common waders such as Greenshank and Greensand was about the best of the rest. A couple of groups of Swallows still about
